Brian Had several one liners that he would apply to me in circumstances or conversations that he thought I needed to hear. “Don’t get greedy, Mom.” (With tongue in cheek and a chuckle). I’d hear this mainly when I would be mowing and would drive too close to the pond’s water edge or the ditch out front that held water way too long. He had come to pull me out with the tractor before, and unfortunately I didn’t learn my lesson. It took several trials to sink in so when talking on the phone and I told him I was mowing or going to mow, he’d give me that lecture and then laugh and say, “I do that too.” Another line I got was, “Tap the brakes.” I heard this one usually when I was on a roll of ridiculous statements or irrationally irritated or overwhelmed with something I had no control over. He then would chuckle which would break my monologue of nonsense. Finally, for now, I’d hear “Stay in your lane.” I’d get this line when I’d be talking or trying to “fix” something that was already a done deal where the ship couldn’t be righted… His tone with this one was voiced again with that chuckling underneath which would break my cycle of frustration and we’d have a good laugh. He might even say, “But you’re not wrong Mom.” Geez I miss him so much and can visualize that smirky smile and zest for life. He walked with confidence and passion, lifting me up when I needed it most. Always Brian…, my B Ball Brian. I love you bunches, now and forever, always… Mom

Brian was helping me with a conservation assignment at A&M and I had to interview a professional about the conservation of bees and pollinators a like ( a topic i came to love because of brian) I wasn’t supposed to interview anyone i personally knew but he was the perfect candidate! after a few minutes of interviewing I thank him for his time and shake his hand, he says “Nice to meet you Sam”. I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing!! He was so excited for what was next for me. Miss you brian🫶

While watching the Rangers game at his place on a family invite cookout night… “A kindergartner could’ve caught that!!!” Frustrated (an understatement here) with Burger for misjudging a game winning routine pop up foul ball along the first baseline.
